Reuse is the best of all I FULLY agree with Brian Hooper (Letters, July 26), we must all do whatever we can to reduce our impact on the world. Unfortunately, we belong to a human race who once believed the world to be flat!
As a 30-something I grew up with an education that continually warned of our impact on the world since the Industrial Revolution. We have come a long way since then - and I would hope a long way since the Clean Air Act that sought to salvage London (and other industrial cities) from smog.
Perhaps the term global warming, and its relevance to us all is hard for some to understand when it has rained so much lately. It is simple, what goes around comes around, you cannot dump on your doorstep - or anyone else - and expect it all to go away.
I am sure those old enough to remember less prosperous times - war, recession, strikes of the 70s - will also remember times of being resourceful.
By all means recycle, but remember that if you can reuse, or not use at all, that saves even more.
T WEEKS, Southampton.
