HOME Information Packs have to be a good step forward, if only they were better thought out.
I have been in the process of selling my house, I was offered the full asking price at the beginning of May, my buyer had accepted an offer on his last December.
As we had already found a property to buy with vacant possession the chain was complete. It has taken the last three months to get to exchange of contracts.
On Monday, July 30 we were ready, only for my buyer to say he wasn't happy with the drains (he'd had no survey and no examination of the drains) and for him to exchange that day he wanted £15,000 off the price.
There is nothing wrong with the drains, he was always going to drop the price at the last minute.
Why haven't we got laws to stop this happening?
No wonder house selling and buying is one of the most stressful things we do!
It's obviously not helped by unethical and ungentlemanly timewasters.
