FOR eight years I have had the immense privilege and pleasure of hosting the Pride of Britain Awards on ITV1.

It is an incredibly uplifting occasion where Prince Charles and the Prime Minister join many other famous faces to honour truly deserving winners - our country's unsung heroes.

Like many millions of viewers, I am always stunned and inspired by what they have done. It is for this reason that I believe that Pride of Britain has become the awards show that really matters.

I am sure that many of you know of unsung heroes in your community. I am appealing for you to tell us about such people so we can celebrate their achievements at Pride of Britain 2007 in London on October 9.

We are looking for people who make the world a better place - courageous children or adults, inspiring neighbours, carers, care workers, teachers, fund-raisers and members of the emergency services.

Please nominate them by emailing nominate@prideofbritain.com, online at prideofbritain.com or by writing to Pride of Britain, PO Box 4014 London E14 5BF. We need to receive nominations by August 17 to be considered by the panel of judges.

With your help, I have no doubt that yet again we will be able to show on Pride of Britain that the greatest people in this country are actually all around us.
