A SURVEY (Daily Echo, August 3) suggested that 60 per cent of the public are less than enthusiastic about the start of the new football season.
I am sick to death of football being rammed down my throat, not only on television but also newspapers which does unfortunately include the Daily Echo.
I have been a regular reader for the last 50 years but sad to say I am disappointed that during last season's football we were bombarded with page after page of football and problems with Southampton Football Club directors.
The football-crazy staff at the Daily Echo could not find enough room on the sports pages so invaded the news pages.
I have now found the answer. I go to the Daily Echo's outlets and have a flick through the paper. If it's full of football - the beautiful game where they have punch-ups on the field - I don't buy it.
C LEAR, Netley.
