IN my second book of Southampton's quayside railways I'm looking to include that which served Thornycroft's Woolston yard.

Maps show a system from the late 1800s to comparatively modern times, which ran around the works buildings and, at one time onto a jetty.

As far as I can determine, there were never any locomotives as the line was worked initially by horses, then by tractors.

If anyone has any recollections of the railway, especially photos of it in use, I would be pleased to hear from them.

I am also interested in photographs of the RAF railway, which ran from Eaglehurst Camp to Calshot Spit until after the Second World War.

If you can help, please get in touch.
