I CAN appreciate Andrew Peterson's frustrations regarding excessive bank charges (Letters, August 14). However, one would hope that customers who enter into contracts with their banks understand the consequences of becoming overdrawn.

Banks can pile on the charges, I am sure, but will now seek to recoup the huge amounts they are reimbursing customers.

This will inevitably result in bank charges for all customers for running accounts. Once again a case of the prudent picking up the tab?
