BEFORE the May elections this year, Southampton City Council's Conservatives promised pensioners and disabled people free bus travel across Hampshire.
Despite being elected into office they have not delivered on their pledge and pensioners remain confined to the city boundaries with exception of travel to West End and Totton.
It appears to have been nothing more then a shameful attempt to buy Southampton's gray vote by the Conservatives. Instead the over 60s and disabled will have to wait for Labour to roll out its free nationwide travel scheme next year.
However, I've no doubt that the Conservatives through their Cabinet member for environment and transport will attempt to take the credit for this wonderful Labour scheme.
