THE residents of Bassett Green are delighted that their beautiful village green is being restored to its former pleasant surroundings.
Thanks are due to the efforts of the Liberal Democrat councillor Liz Mizon, who has been working to improve some properties in this conservation area of Southampton.
There are seven Grade II listed buildings surrounding the village green, which include thatched cottages, the old village school and 200 years old cottages.
So it is worthwhile to preserve this historic area for future generations. Frequently I have seen visitors taking photographs of this rural scene, which is within the boundary of the city of Southampton.
