I HOPE that we are going to see a significant take-up of Walk to School Week this year. Many roads needlessly turn into real obstacle courses at certain times of each day of the school year, for road-users and pedestrians alike.
Medical experts say we are condemning our children to a future of health problems if we do not allow them the chance to have the proper amount of exercise when they are growing. Not only that, we are also constantly informed that walking is one of the best exercises.
In Bitterne I spotted a walking crocodile. There were a dozen children or more, with the appropriate number of adults in charge, and their happy, eager faces told the story!
How wonderful it would be see walking crocodiles in the morning when children are getting started on their day. Some happy scenes like this would improve everyone's lives!
