I KNOW that AFC Totton trustee Paul Maiden (Letters, August 25) would like a new football ground, but he and the majority of his team will not be the ones stuck in traffic every day going to and from work.

He will not have to deal with over-stretched doctors and dental practices and, most importantly, the lack of school places for his children and grandchildren.

His property will not flood because houses have been built on a flood plain.

No, Mr Maiden will come straight down the M27 from Chandler's Ford, to his new football ground.

As for his comment that this proposal will increase the amount of open space for Totton, if you have three open spaces and propose to build on two the arithmetic does not work out.

Does Totton as a community need a new football ground at the cost of its infrastructure?

P STOFFEL, Totton.
