LIBERAL Democrat deputy leader Jill Baston (Letters, September 1) claims that her party did not make a mockery of running the council.

If the Southampton Liberal Democrats ran a good council why were the residents so disillioned with them that they threw them from office?

Fair enough the voters of Southampton did not turn to UKIP but they certainly gave the Lib Dems Southampton a good kicking at the polls.

If the Lib Dems ran the council successfully local residents would have been listened to over the traveller transit site, we would not be five years behind on our road repairs and they would still be running our council's administration.

RYAN NEWELL, chairman, UKIP Southampton.
