ONE wonders why Tom Spring-Smyth (Letters, September 3) is so rabidly anti-UKIP.
It is obvious that we are no longer a self-governing nation. Mainstream politicians have for the past 35 years been giving away to the EU, slice-by-slice, the power to control our own affairs. But the power wasn't theirs to give away. We merely lent it to them from one general election to the next. That is why they have heaped lie upon deceit in trying to disguise their guilty secret.
All UKIP is trying to do is to expose what has happened and to warn us of the dangers of even more powers being given away. If Mr Spring-Smyth has any regard for his country he should be supporting the efforts of people like Ryan Newell, not attack them.
DAVID SAMUEL, Alresford.
