A DAY to remember - September 3, 2007. The Prime Minister, Gordon Brown, speaking on BBC Radio, has promised a referendum so that the UK can decide on whether or not to accept the euro. However, Mr Brown also confirmed that the people of the UK will not have a say in whether or not we sign up to the new treaty - in effect the new constitution for the EU.
The mind boggles at this political thinking. If the Government signs the new treaty, then as surely as night follows day, the switch from the pound to the euro is inevitable.
