COUNCILLOR Adrian Vinson wrote (In My View, August 28) concerning the travellers' transit camp at Swaythling: "Southampton needs a transit site, to help prevent illegal encampments''.
If there is a transit site with only 12 pitches and 24 wish to use it, where do the extra 12 go? I fail to see how this small site will in any way alter the status quo, regarding illegal encampments. They will pitch up somewhere, anywhere they can find.
Maybe Cllr Vinson can give an uncluttered explanation.
