I COULD not believe my eyes when I saw a sign saying that the council would start a major revamp of Segens-worth roundabout on September 10, lasting five months.

We are already suffering from the effects of the gas works on Bridge Road, Swanwick, which are due to last until October 15.

To avoid those queues on the A27 going west into Southampton, many people have been joining the motorway at Junction 9.

So as commuters from Warsash, our travel is now thwarted in both directions for something approaching six weeks!

This rings true for those living in Locks Heath, Titchfield Common and Sarisbury.

Who are these people who allow multiple roadworks at the same time, on the same road?

Surely the start date for Segensworth could have been delayed until the other was complete? No, I guess that's too logical, and who really cares if 60,000 car travellers are severely inconvenienced, arrive late at work regularly, and need to visit their therapist for stress-related conditions? Not the council or gas company that's for sure!

Who is responsible for these seemingly ludicrous decisions?

LYN LOVETT, Warsash.
