ISN'T it ironic that House of Fraser is desperately looking for somewhere in Southampton to open a new department store when Tyrrell & Green's has stood empty for something like seven years waiting for this to happen (Daily Echo, September 7)?
Tragically it is now too late to save this magnificent store from being demolished to make way for an arts centre and homes.
This will finalise the chance of northern Above Bar ever being restored to something like the busy shopping attraction it used to be with its two large department stores and C&A.
