MIGHT Gordon Brown call an early general election?

There are close advisers to the Prime Minister who will suggest that he waits until the Labour party has the necessary funding. Other close advisers may prompt him to go for a election in the late autumn, thus avoiding a referendum on the EU treaty.

Mr Brown has introduced a new form of politics. Everyone should sing from the same hymn sheet. Consensus is its name.

In a democracy, it is healthy to have divergence within the political arena, if only to stimulate public interest.

Eliminate political activity, as is in China, Russia etc, then a totalitarian state emerges - and this could easily happen here. Mr Brown, seemingly, is walking in this direction by inviting leading political and business people to join his policy review panels.
