MOST people would probaby welcome the additional police community support officers now evident on our streets, provide reassurance, deal with antisocial behaviour etc (In My View, September 8).
However, considering our widespread yob culture, and the huge deterioration in society in general, no amount of law enforcement will change the outlook of our families today.
For example the low life roaming housing estates in gangs. Although a gang in Thornhill have just been jailed, I suspect within a very short time, the next load of young objectionables will pop up and create havoc as did their predecessors.
Prior to any further increase in yob culture, go back to the drawing board and talk to the aggrieved about how they would (legally) treat these yobs. If it should mean a change in the law, so be it.
We should hit them hard, stop the softly, softly approach, pull the parents in if need be and fine them a minimum of £250 for the first antisocial act. Lastly, give the PCSO the authority to arrest after two years' service. Yobs know that at present PCSOs have no teeth.
