I LIVE in the neglected part of Southampton that for some inane reason has to vote for a Romsey candidate in the general election.
I now read that the present MP is preparing to quiz the chief constable about a possible shoot- to-kill policy during the recent incident in Chandler's Ford.
I don't know what planet she lives on, but it is certainly not planet Southampton.
Police facing armed robbers have only one area to aim at and that is what is referred as the 'engine room', i.e. the middle of the body around the heart, any attempt to merely wound an armed assailant is far too risky.
Perhaps Mrs Gidley would be better employed asking the chief constable why crime is so high in 'her' part of Southampton, and not to be so quick to criticise the police when they actually get it right.
ALAN KEBBELL, Southampton.
