RICHARD COOK suggests that the military's role is to preserve peace and stability and that the army should be allowed to promote themselves in schools too.
I don't know if Mr Cook, ex-teacher, taught history, but the role of Western military has never been to promote stability, rather to subjugate people in order to control their resources.
The MOD wants to send in teams to present the Iraq war to children as an "humanitarian intervention''. Anyone who has watched the news over the last six years realises that the war was about oil. The press complains about teenage violence. The army exists to teach violence - how to commit violence on others in the most extreme forms. If you really want someone to come into schools to promote peace, then ask the pacifists.
