WE are increasingly becoming a litter nation. I only had to go less than 100 yards this morning from my home in Bassett to collect this litter.
I used the discarded McDonalds bag (at least made of paper) and discarded Tesco's plastic bag to collect the litter which is clearly thrown out of cars. Someone must have just enjoyed a McDonalds Big Breakfast.
This is as much antisocial behavour as dog owners failing to clear up and there are many, many more car owners and passengers catching the litter habit than dog walkers leaving deposits.
More of us will need to take up the passion for litter-picking shown by Steve Gregory featured in the Echo (March 28 page 9) then it will no longer be a news story - better still take litter home.
Richard Strother, Southampton.
