RECENTLY a woman drove through a red light and slammed into my daughter's car which was carrying two children, one of whom is disabled.

My daughter is a nervous wreck and her car is badly damaged.

My granddaughter suffered burns and spent a night in hospital.

The driver of the offending car admitted liability. She said she knew she went through a red light.

The police are not prosecuting her and put it down to "we all make mistakes''!

Why can someone drive without due care and get away with it but my 18-year-old son has been stopped seven times and asked for his driving documents.

He also went through a red light one night and got three points and a £60 fine.

No one else was on the road at the time and no one else was put in danger as it was early in the morning.

In another incident involving my son, a man of 30 punched him and split his lip, scarring him for life. The attacker only received a caution.

Also my son's moped was stolen and the police found some youths with it. They let them off, leaving us to recover it at a cost of £130.

It makes me so angry because I am a single mother who works and pays council tax but for what? To pay for the police who do nothing for my family.
