JUST as soon as there is some hope that students and other short-term residents in the Polygon will be more efficient at controlling their refuse and unwanted goods, we now find that the council refuse collectors no longer put the bins back in the gardens.
They will cause obstruction and get knocked over by drunken clubbers.
Surely it is not beyond the wit of the two universities to put up notices and send out flyers to tell students that they will have to bring in the bins themselves?
It is no good for them just to rely on putting information in Student Link, a more active and hands-on approach is needed.
We council taxpayers do not think that the council should spend our money on sending out teams of people to visit all the student houses.
These houses make up over 73 per cent of the Polygon housing stock.
The council is short of funds and should not have to bear this extra burden.
So let the universities take responsibility and get on the case.
