I HAVE just seen the feature on the History Channel of the discovery of the wreck of Nelson's favourite ship, HMS Agamemnon, and the fact the outline of the original dock it was built in at Buckler's Hard still exists.
Would it not be a splendid project to rebuild a replica in the original berth? It would provide employment for many retired skilled carpenters, teenagers and the unemployed.
The construction would attract thousands of tourists and when built would be a worthy example of our maritime history, as well as a working ship. It could be used for youth training in the Nelson tradition, film making and other projects which would produce subsistence funding.
Surely this is one the Lottery Heritage fund could not fail to resist.
