National Doughnut Week is fast approaching and I would like to make a special appeal to your readers to support this charity event, which takes place from May 10 to 17.

Everyone deserves a treat from time to time and this fun campaign is a perfect way to treat someone you know to a delicious, mouth-watering doughnut.

All you need to do is to purchase doughnuts from participating bakers - wherever you see the National Doughnut Week posters displayed.

By holding a doughnut-themed event at work, or with family and friends, you will be helping to raise money for The Children's Trust, a national charity, which provides care, education and therapy for children with multiple disabilities and complex health needs.

Last year, National Doughnut Week fundraising activities across the UK raised over £40,000 and, with your support, we hope to beat this figure in 2008.

So bakers, if you haven't done so, please register now and get baking and all you lovely people get buying.

By doing so, you will be helping to raise money for some very special children.

To make credit or debit card donations, please call 01737 365027.

Thank you - and don't forget to buy yourself a doughnut treat!

AINSLEY HARRIOTT, on behalf of The Children's Trust.
