I TOTALLY disagree with Mrs Saunders (Letters, April 18) criticising the likes of R Griffiths (Letters, April 12).
I am sure that most residents of Bitterne Park are familiar with the history of Southampton Airport and the choice made by many who live there would have been before aircraft noise and pollution became a problem. Property directly under or close to the flight path is bound to have dropped in value. Therefore to expect compensation is not unreasonable. To assume this would open the flood- gates to numerous other claims is rather farfetched.
I do not live under the flight path but am well aware of what it is like.
MRS J CALVERT, Southampton.
