AT the time of writing this I had not decided which party to vote for in today's local elections but am very willing to elect anyone who promises to give detailed attention to the state of the roads in and around the Bitterne area of the city.
In particular the state of Upper Deacon Road which has deep potholes requiring dexterity to steer round and avoid oncoming traffic at the same time!
Having travelled extensively in India I can honestly say that most of the rural roads there are in a better state than those around Bitterne, Thornhill and Merry Oak.
GWEN APPLETON, Bitterne, Southampton.
