DESPITE the money spent by the PCT and SHA to convince the sceptical Southampton citizens of the proposed fluoridation benefits, the South Gloucestershire PCT has also launched its own feasibility/consultation process.
Their PCT board are even more naive than some of our PCT board members. As David Hardwood a non-executive director said. “There must be a lot of health benefits other than dental.
“I imagine fluoride helps with all sorts of things. I just can't quite see why we have to go into such detail on fluoridation when companies already put all sorts of cocktails of chemicals in the water to purify it.’’ He apparently does not know the difference between treating water to make it safe to drink and mass medication as well as believing fluoride to be a magical panacea.
The NHS has £14 million to spend on fluoridation and intends to implement it piecemeal regardless of public opinion.
