THE City of Southampton (Albion) Band would like to thank all their friends and supporters who attended their traditional Christmas concert at The Point, Eastleigh on December 21 last. In addition to the much loved sounds of brass, guest artistes included classical and flamenco guitarists Tim Rushworth and Vince Kellett, a post horn playing fox (Mike Buckby), and well known local compere, John Smith.
John was a member of the BBC’s Sony Gold Award winning team responsible for the radio coverage of the funeral for Diana, Princes of Wales in 1997 and produced coverage of the funeral of Queen Elizabeth, The Queen Mother from Whitehall.
He has also worked as a producer and bulletin reader for the BBC and as a compere has introduced famous stars, bands and orchestras and recently hosted "An Evening with Colin Firth" at the Theatre Royal, Winchester.
ROBBIE HENDERSON, Secretary, City of Southampton (Albion) Band
