WITH regard to illegal traffic signs on approaches to Millbrook Road – article front page Southern Daily Echo January 7.
I wonder why Tony Seaton and the partnerships are so up in arms about their claims of insufficient warning of speed limits?.
Could it be that he and the mysterious partnership have received fines for speeding along this stretch of road? Coming from the direction of the New Forest, 50mph speed restriction signs are clearly displayed at regular intervals.
As there are no national maximum speed limit signs displayed anywhere along this stretch of road, competent drivers will keep within the law and safely drive under 50mph until otherwise informed.
Maybe these roads should have large 50s painted on the surface in the same fashion as the New Forest roads have 40 clearly displayed at regular intervals.
Trouble is, these would be ignored in the same manner as do the signs on the Forest roads are, by persistent law- breaking speeders.
In the Forest, it’s innocent animals that are killed by these stupid people, on crowded city roads it’s humans instead The only thing I have in common with the partnership, is to remove these fixed speed cameras and replace them with mobile speed cameras and traps operated by trained persons.
This would alleviate the cocky attitude of law-breaking speeding morons who brake and accelerate when passing the known fixed cameras JOHN FREEMANTLE, Nursling.
