I WRITE regarding the recent letter from one of your readers on the subject of Hythe's Christmas lights.
I am a little disappointed that this individual failed to fully investigate the facts before making these negative comments.
I, for one, can tell you that there indeed was a Christmas tree outside the library. The tree was donated by Bryley Hardware and my husband, the local Barber voluntarily risked life and limb climbing up a ladder to place the lights on this most spectacular tree.
Like everyone else I to thought that some of the lights used at Christmas were a little past their best, however the local Parish Council and Hythe Business Partnership did a fantastic job of ensuring that Hythe looked it's festive best with very little time and particularly limited resources.
I can assure your reader that the plans for Christmas 2009 are already underway and hopefully Hythe will manage to fulfil his ideals of what a festive light show should be.
Mrs A J Fairbairn, Hythe.
