Taxing times

I paid our January instalment on my first pay day after Christmas, albeit eight days overdue, but the last payment nevertheless.

We received a court summons. No warming, no reminder. There is nothing stated on the council tax paperwork about being fined for paying late and the bill is dated up to 31st March after all. We have now received the enclosed notice which I find ludicrous. The bill is paid. I don't feel there is justification in fining us £60 when the tax year isn't up yet.

To end my letter, 42,000 x £60? = £2,520,000!?
