ANOMALON website is correct, figures issued in the last year by government statistical department states that atheists in Britain outnumber all other religions together.
We are a persecuted majority, constantly harangued by various religious propaganda by all sections of the media and contrary to condor man – who obviously doesn’t watch the right channels – are quite prepared as Prof. Richard Dawkins often is, to debate the issue with anyone.
Shall we soon see the reintroduction of the inquisition, a repetition of Bloody Queen Mary’s burnings at the stake of non-believers, an extension of Islamic fundamentalism, whose dogma is kill everyone not of their faith?
Will we soon have vegetarian bus drivers refusing to drive buses with sausage adverts on them, teetotal drivers refusing to service buses with beer adverts on them, anti-gambling drivers refusing to take out buses with bingo adverts on them? How totally ridiculous can it become?
Apparently Mr Heather’s high flown principles were quickly jettisoned, when he could quite happily have his photo in the paper alongside the offending bus, which almost certainly reached a much wider audience with its so called offensive message.
As a member of a largely silent atheist majority I say to the religious fanatics paraphrasing Mr Michael Winner ‘Calm down dears, it’s only our opinion’, which surely we are entitled to in a free society.
In this world so fraught with religious terrorism Mr Heather’s stance is extremely foolish, worse, it is dangerous foolish bigotry. The only question is, why wasn’t he dealt with under the Discrimination laws?
