I READ with horror that Southampton at Lordshill is to be used to create the Oasis Academy Lordshill in a planning appplication hidden at the back of the paper on Saturday 28th February 2009. Many readers would be unaware that this was even a possibility with a very poor consultation exercise.
The land is used by South Central Ambulance Service for the landing of the emergency helicoptor for onward transport to Southampton General - where will this land now? Also lost will be the annual kite festival along with the sports pitches regularly used at weekends. Not to mention the traffic chaos that will be caused to Romsey Road and Redbridge Lane with 900 children and staff using the site. The former school sites will then be given to Oasis to do as they please so will profit from housing developments.
I ask readers to contact Southampton City Council's solicitor Mark R Heath to object (reference number TO/EN12/37/004 as this will be another green amenity lost forever - what's next the common or sports centre?
Livid of Lordswood.
