THE Married Allowance for the over 75s last year 08-09 was £662.50.
This year 09-10 it is £696.50, an increase of £34 which will cost the Government £6.80 in lost taxes for theyear. To each couple the increase is worth 13p per week.
One member of the Government in the House of Commons received £16,000 for her Second Home, so the Married Couple pay rise for (09-10) 2,352.9 x £6.80 come to £15,999 one pound short of what she received last year (Mrs Jacqui Smith).
Remember there are 649? In the Commons there are more. In the House of Lords all able claiming allowances, plus I believe 78 members in EU.
The bill for 649? In the Commons wages only at £63,000 = £40,887,000 – and for what?
What we need in our country is an Oliver Cromwell who would hang, draw and quarter most of them for extortion.
Also the 25p per week that this government gives to people over 80s is a disgrace that should have increased yearly, £13 isn’t much yearly for those who fought a war for six years and won it by the way!
