I HAVE always believed in giving credit where credit is due. That’s why I am writing in praise of the annual barbecue at Rownhams St Johns Nursing Home.
As usual it was a great success. The chef and his helper worked hard to ensure no one was hungry. If the patients couldn’t manage to drink out of the wine glasses they drank their wine through a straw with the carer steadying the wine glass, so they wouldn’t feel different. It was that sort of happy event, good weather, nice music, happy faces. All went towards a lovely afternoon with both matrons working hard, both as waitresses and jack of all trades to ensure it was all a success. I thought it was marvellous and they deserve a word of praise, because it was quite an achievement.
It was the sort of occasion that makes you feel better for going.
