I JUST wanted to write and let you know about the fantastic care that I have received over the last few months. I have been in and out of Southampton General Hospital during this time.
Over the last few years I have read the stories about the NHS and yes, I did wonder if the care they offered was as dreadful as we are led to believe. In my experience every member of staff and this includes the healthcare staff in the General have been kind, dedicated and extremely hard working. They never complain and treat their patients with dignity. They even find the time to come and talk to patients about how they and their families are coping. They ensure we are as comfortable as possible.
I do not believe that these members of staff get the praise that they deserve. I just wish that more people could see how hard these members of staff work. They frequently arrive early and stay late for no extra pay just pure dedication to their patient's welfare. People are always quick to criticise but far too slow to praise. We need to recognise this and show appreciation for their hard work.
K CRAVEN, Southampton.
