(A RESPONSE to Mr D R Smith – 29th May 2009) Despite disagreeing with humanism, I find myself agreeing with Mr Smith (May 29) that England should not be considered Christian. I would hate that later generations could think that at around the time of this millennium England was considered Christian.
Our wonderful country treats older people as useless and worthless, and its young with contempt and intolerance. England’s self-seeking spending cripples the economy through its vile gluttony and its bullying trade laws strangle weaker nations.
Society focuses on justifying its twisted desires and self-centred wants.
Communities are prejudiced against each other with the rich pouring contempt on the poor and deprived.
Statutory services exist to ‘care’, so the nation can sit watching the TV and, ironically, resent paying taxes for these services.
Envy, bitterness and grudges help to while away the time. Yes, Mr D Smith, I think that we may be better off just being seen as just human.
Will Rosie, Southampton.
