I HAD to say my bit regarding the dog walkers in Eastleigh cemetery (Daily Echo, November 21).

I am one. Me and my beloved dog walk around the graveyard two, sometimes three times a day on the lead.

I ALWAYS pick up the poo! I also pick up any rubbish I might find, straighten flowers that have fallen and turn the taps off, (which the local kids turn on and leave).

I love the cemetery. It’s my place to think, see the wildlife that’s there and enjoy the peace.

I have total respect for it.

The staff there work hard to keep everything clean and tidy and it’s a beautiful place.

I do understand how this poor family feel, to lose a child is beyond sad, but it’s more likely to be foxes’ paw prints left on the grave than dogs.

There are not many dog walkers who use the cemetery, and the dog in your feature is an old boy, he sticks to the path, and the owner always picks up.

The family have a point, but the “problem” isn’t as bad as suggested.

I don’t see dogs running around off the lead, I see a few people enjoying the peace, being very respectful.

I sometimes think the only visitors a lot of those graves get are me and my dog. Please don’t blow things up out of all proportion. In this crazy world we all need a place where we have peace, and for me and my dog, it’s my cemetery.
