IT’S very sad for D Smith (Letters, October 29) that he seems never to have received any of the benefits of having a faith.

To have God’s help and comfort in the rougher periods of life is a joy indeed, for to know Him is to experience a sense of peace and the ability to cope.

It’s always a surprise to me that someone who has no faith and apparently knows nothing about the faith of others, feels they have the authority to deny the existence of God. Having been a regular member of the Anglican Church for 70 years I can, hand on heart, vouch for His existence.

Many scientists do too, Mr Smith!
