WHILE it is an excellent idea to promote the Mantra of “British jobs for British Workers” it would be much more realistic if the Government ceased allowing jobs to be sent abroad, as they have in the case of the Thames Link Contract and as reported in the media, of BAE’s intention to close their aerospace (BAE Hawk) divisions in the north of the country and farm out the work to the middle/far east/Americas.
It really is ‘beyond the pale’.
If companies wish so to do, then it is time for Government to ensure those companies pay for all the redundancy costs and the ongoing retraining/unemployment costs of the workers involved until such time as they find further work.
Companies unlike governments, have to make profits to survive but, they do need to ensure their government does not introduce, nor allow the EU to introduce, irrelevant bureaucracy and stifle companies ability to trade successfully.
