MR Glyn Tudor (Letters, November 22) says the unions are right about blaming the Tory council for the way it is trying to balance the books and still keep important services going.
This is the unions who fund the so-called Labour Party who left this country bare to the bones by spending money like it was out of fashion. This was money we did not have in the first place and if a Labour council was back in power the only thing they would do is to employ endless staff in high paid jobs and make us pay for them with sky high council tax rises.
If you don’t believe me get your old council tax bills out and first see how much it went up over the years with Labour in power.
I know it is not very nice to take a pay cut but at least you have got a job and I know and you know if you worked somewhere else you would not get away with a lot of things you get away with now, which is the main reason you would not like your jobs to go private.
So if I was you I would count my blessings to have a job and see the real reason we are in this mess was bad running of the country by the last Labour government, who are supported by the fat cat unions.
B JONES, Southampton.
