IT seems to me that some of memorials and monuments are all very well but I do feel that they are perhaps not very practical.

Surely it would be better to spend the money providing help and support to all disabled and traumatised servicemen who have been involved in some of conflicts.

I have in mind particularly the veterans of the first Gulf War and who returned suffering with the mysterious Gulf War Syndrome and have, as far as I am aware, been left largely to their own devices.

If we can afford all this war, then I say we can afford to look after all injured personnel and their families and the families of all those killed in action.

We should have a little less regard for the dead and a bit more regard for the living.

I want to prevent future tragedies not weep over the past.
