ONE of the real success stories over the last five years has been the improvement in Riverside Park in Southampton.
It is not perfect, but it is now hugely better than it was when my garden backed on to it. Three new play areas, a new pavilion, new tennis court, cycle lane, and an improved pitch and putt.
Most importantly, Riverside Park now has an excellent and active Friends Group who are a terrific asset.
Personally, I think the park looks better now than it has for any of the 18 years that I have known it. There are still things to improve, but overall it is a real gem.
