RETURNING to collect my bike from the cycle stands outside ASDA proved to be a wasted journey. I was told by a passer by that a pack of three had ripped the lock open and run off round the corner with it.
No camera had spotted it, nobody had tried to stop the thieves and my only witness had walked away before I had time to ask for his help.
Next stop the Police station. But - No luck. So I would like to offer some questions.
In the Daily Echo, December 2, you include some advice on how to keep your bike safe: (a) A lock? I was told by my former salesman – “This one is impenetrable”
(b) Try to park your bike where there is CCTV – Oh dear does anybody know that? I thought they were all discreetly planted to prevent this sort of thing.
My bike in fact was brand new.
But I would like to offer one essential piece of advice –get it Insured. I thought my house insurance would cover for this but I found that would only cover for £500. Mine was worth much more.
Well I’m glad the police are taking notice. I wouldn’t mind mine back as it is my only form of transport.
