THE story about the police dog Beau in the Daily Echo True Crime files reminded me of a time when I saw him in action.
I had been to see Saints play and was was on my way up Hill Lane after the match. On passing the cemetery on the right hand side there was three young lads in there wrecking the graves.
At that moment PC Allen and Beau arrived. Beau jumped over the wall and soon rounded up the three young lads and brought them back out to the road. PC Allen told them that Beau had not had his dinner yet so they had better behave.
PC Allen told them to hold hands, and set off down the road.
After a short way he said “Stop”
Then “Sit” which Beau did at once.
PC Allen then said: “Not you Beau, them.”
Which they all did in a large puddle!
By this time there was a large gathering of people watching these three yobs marching about ten paces then sitting, with Beau showing off his gold tooth and his best growls to help them along.
Thanks to the Echo for these stories, it brings back great memories.
