IN response to “Disgruntled Tenant”ÿ (“The forgotten estate”, Letters, December 3) writing about the Itchen Estate window replacements.
I have spent plenty of time in the Itchen Estate, and it strikes me as having something that cannot be bought: a brilliant community spirit and residents who respect their area and encourage others to do so.
You have certainly not been forgotten.
The council will have finalised the contractor for the window replacement programme this month; this has taken much longer than expected, and I am sorry Itchen Estate residents have been kept waiting.
Despite the delay, however, the work will still be completed quicker than was expected this time last year because your Conservative Council brought forward the funding.
MATT WARD, Conservative councillor for Peartree ward, Southampton.
